It would be cool if I could add lane watchers as well as a front camera - they claim it will work. I also have come across NavTool - has anybody tried their kit? Looks promising but would rather hear from someone who has experience with it. One of my main concerns with these radios is whether or not they'll show my AC temps & modes - not sure if iDatalink Maestro can fix that problem? There are a couple units that does look good like Apline iLX W650 and Pioneer DMH C5500NEX. I remember reading a comment from a member (not sure if from here or in a F150 FB group) who said to look for an 8" radio and it will fit in our trucks. I have searched on Crutchfield - they literally do not give you any radio recommendations, ZERO. Linkswell has T-style radios for 2013+ (they're blessed with it again) but they have no plans for '09-12. The 2013+ trucks with Sync 2 are blessed with the ability to upgrade to Sync 3 that comes with Apple CarPlay whereas 2009 - 2012 trucks are stuck with Sync 1 that cannot upgrade to Sync 2 nor 3.įor those of you who have '09 - 12 and upgraded your stereo, what/how were you able to achieve Apple CarPlay (preferably wireless) in your radio? I know some of you have opted for T-style radio from Phoenix Automotive - I'd love to own one however I've heard it is a hit or miss, their support is not very good, and still have some bugs to work out. Hope this save someone else a little time and frustration. To complete the process, take the USB drive to your computer to report the successful installation. Once you have installed the SYNC software updates, you’ll need to pair your phone again.SYNC displays “Installation Complete.” Press MENU to exit installation mode.Do not attempt to use SYNC during this time. (you will get an error asking you to make sure the install file is in the root directory). The instructions you actually need are located here. I have a 2012 XLT with the basic system - apparently this means pre SYNC 2 - which means the directions Ford gives on the VIN look-up page are wildly inaccurate and I'm just surprised they don't have it better spelled out. Navigate to and check your VIN for updates and download them via the instructions - this is where their instructions stop being accurate.Just did mine and had to do a lot of guessing, sleuth work on the forums, and digging on Ford's page to figure it out. ![]()
